CLASSICAL GUITAR SOLO
Please read all syllabus rules and requirements with care. Failure to follow them could result in penalty or disqualification. We want this to be a positive and enriching experience for you so please do not hesitate to inquire if anything is unclear. Rules
1. All Competitors must bring their own footstool.
2. All solo selections must be memorized. Only solo, unaccompanied works are permitted.
3. Competitors from grade 7 to Diploma are eligible to be recommended to the Provincial level. Open competitors wishing to advance to provincials must enter classes designated with a (P). Only competitors from the Provincial competition in the Open class are eligible to proceed to the National Level.
4. Maximum time limits must be strictly observed competitors may be stopped and/or disqualified if they go over.
5. Scholarships will be awarded at the adjudicator’s discretion and availability of funds. Scholarships are awarded at the Provincial and National Level for 1st and 2nd place and 3rd place at Nationals only.
6. Competitors must be ready to play at the competition site at the scheduled time of their performance
7. In classes where two pieces are to be played, competitors may choose to play one piece from one grade level higher than the class entered.
8. Please state selection and time on the entry form.
9. Competitors must perform repertoire printed in the official program. NO CHANGES will be made after the entry has been received.
10. Ensembles must provide their own music stands.
**Please make sure you enter a class appropriate to your level, playing repertoire you can handle and control well. Additional marks for difficulty will not be awarded. **
Scholarships:
Local: as available
Provincials: 1st and 2nd place amounts vary for each level 100.00 – 300.00
Nationals: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place 500 – 1,500. First place winners in all disciplines compete for the grand award prize of 5000.
